More than 72,000 watched as the show opened with a pyrotechnic display, and a highly ornamented rendition of "America The Beautiful," by Fantasia.
First up was R-Truth and John Morrison vs Miz and Big Show for the latter teams tag titles. In a short (under five minutes)match, the champs prevailed as Show KO'd Morrison for the win.
Next was the "triple Threat" match pitting Randy Orton against his proteges, Ted Dibiase, and Cody Rhodes. main purpose of this one was to further Orton's face turn. The "proteges" attacked Orton like ravenous wolves, but he overcame the odds, pinning Dibiase after hitting his RKO.
Third match was the ladder match for the Money In The Bank, title shot. The ten combatants were: Shelton Benjamin, Christian,Evan Bourne, Drew McEntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Matt Hardy, and Jack Swagger. In a mild surprize, Swagger grabbed the briefcase. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the months ahead!
Next up was triple H against The Celtic Warrior--Sheamus. This was a solid match demonstrating that Sheamus can deliver a solid performance. Even though Trips won the contest with gis signature move, the "pedigree."
In a match I was looking forward to, Rey Mysterio beat CM Punk with a 6-1-9. I was disappointed only in that I thought it would have been interesting to see Rey foeced to join Punk's straight edge society.
